36-hour bike drive to give kids new wheels for Christmas

Authored By Alina Hunter-Grah

A 36-hour Love Gives Wheels holiday bike drive will be held by Dynamic Church to give economically disadvantaged children a chance to rule the neighborhood with their new wheels.

The bike drive will be from 6 a.m. Dec. 9 until 6 p.m. Dec. 10 at Walmart at 2020 Gunbarrel Road. The bikes donated will then become a part of the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program. This bike drive will be Dynamic Church’s fifth.

“Anyone that’s ever gotten a bike on Christmas morning can remember the pure happiness and joy it brought them to ride it, like they were the king or queen of the neighborhood,” Wesley Odum, pastor of Dynamic Church, said in a prepared statement. “Being able to give that joy to these children during the holidays is part of the heartbeat of Dynamic Church as we seek to make a difference in this community by sharing God’s love.”

Those who wish to donate can purchase a bike inside Walmart or donate any monetary amount to designated church volunteers at the drive. The price of a bike is about $50. To donate online, click here.

Love Gives Wheels is a part of Dynamic Church’s Save the City ministry. The church partners with various organizations throughout Chattanooga, such as the Hamilton Family YMCA, Salvation Army, Bess T. Shepherd Elementary School and the Nehemiah Project.
