Being pregnant is a joyful time. Not only do mommies-to-be get to feel the thrill that comes from having a new life growing inside them, but their skin glows, their hair becomes thicker, and their figures become more voluptuous.
But after the baby has arrived, most women long for the bodies they had before pregnancy.
Stretched-out skin combined with a little “jiggle” around a woman’s midsection can make it hard for her to wear her prebaby clothes, even for the dieting and exercising mom. Stretch marks are often more noticeable, and breasts frequently lose volume and begin to sag after breast-feeding is over. And many women are surprised to discover that permanent vaginal changes are common after the baby’s birth.
But there are a variety of cosmetic procedures that can help moms get back their youthful figures and improve their body confidence.
The “mommy makeover” is a popular combination of several cosmetic procedures that helps women restore their prepregnancy shapes. The makeover includes any combination of the following procedures: breast lift/augmentation, tummy tuck, liposuction/SmartLipo, Brazilian butt lift and/or labiaplasty.
Breast procedures help moms regain the appearance of their before-baby breasts. For a mom who wants to restore fullness, a breast augmentation-which uses implants to alter the size and shape of breasts-is a procedure to consider. If a mom also needs to lift her breasts, a breast lift can be performed. These two procedures can also be performed together and help provide a fuller, more youthful appearance.
Obviously, a woman’s abdomen will look different post-baby. Loose skin, excess fat and weakened muscles are usually the cause. A tummy tuck is the best way to correct these problems, and the procedure can also help eliminate stretch marks. Liposuction and SmartLipo, a laser-assisted sculpting technique, can help with excess fat on the waist or thighs. Mommies can have the fat from these areas transferred to the butt (a procedure known as a the Brazilian butt lift), face or labia to create more youthful looks in those areas.
Vaginal-area changes post-childbirth are something many women are uncomfortable talking about, and perhaps they are even unaware that there is a solution. The swelling and stretching of the labia during pregnancy and childbirth can push the labia past its limits of elasticity, but a labiaplasty can help. Labiaplasties are relatively simple procedures that typically involve little pain and short-term swelling.
