The purpose of The Chattanooga Citizens’ Police Academy is to create positive interaction and enhance communication between the Chattanooga Police Department and the citizens it serves.

The program begins on Sept. 13.

The group will meet on nine consecutive Thursday evenings.

The Citizens’ Police Academy offers community members an in-depth look inside the Chattanooga Police Department and how it works, according to a news release.

Class participants are taught by police officers who cover topics including Use of Force, SWAT, EOD, Patrol, Narcotics and Special Investigations.
