After months of work, Chattanooga State Community College’s student-run media club will soon present a film called “Steal You Away” that represents the group’s biggest collaboration ever.
What: “Steal You Away”
When: Wednesday, May 3, 7-9:30 p.m.
Where: The Camp House, 149 E. Martin Luther King Blvd.
How much: Free
Other information: There will also be a question-and-answer session with filmmakers and cast; a live performance by Kay B. Brown, who just won Hip-Hop CHA’s Local Artist Showcase; and refreshments. There will be a red carpet, and attendees are encouraged to wear semiformal/formal attire.
The media club put all its resources into this film, which tackles the issue of domestic violence.
Alex Griffith wrote and directed the film, and Ian Lockler produced it.
The filmmakers collaborated with the Partnership for Families, Children and Adults to get feedback about how the creators portray domestic violence.
Other collaborations included working with other Chattanooga State departments for costuming, makeup, talent, script feedback and music. The nursing department provided a place to film a hospital scene.
Newly launched business Lucid Tales Productions helped promote the upcoming film event, which also includes other screenings and entertainment.
Initially, the event was just going to be a premiere of “Steal You Away,” but the team decided to highlight other projects that Chattanooga State students have worked on.
There will be music videos and other short films at the upcoming event.
“It’s a showcase of everything Chattanooga State and Lucid Tales have worked on,” recent Chattanooga State graduate and Lucid Tales Productions co-founder Benjamin Banks said.
