Although winter is a slower time for the local food truck scene, the city’s newest street food business, Local Slice, has been out for about two months, and owner Justin Bennett is satisfied with sales so far, he said.

Some days, Local Slice can be found on the corner of Market and Fifth streets.
His team has been working out kinks, which are an inevitable part of just about every business startup.
So far, there have been no “major catastrophes,” Bennett said. He’s only burned a few pizzas, and he sells about 10 pizzas a day when the truck is out, he said.
“I started with no expectations of how we were going to do,” he said. “We’ve done fairly well for it being the slow season.”
With the owners of Taco Sherpa getting out of the business, the Scenic City now has four main trucks-Local Slice, Famous Nater’s, A Taste of Argentina and Southern Burger Company.
The food truck scene has grown in Chattanooga in the past two years, and now, just about every major city in the United States has food trucks.
ABC reported that some food trucks are taking their business to airports.
But for now, in Chattanooga, Bennett is working to book some events and secure a spot at the Chattanooga Market, and he is looking forward to getting out on the streets with the other food trucks.
“I try to spread the word everywhere I go,” he said.
