The Bitter Alibi’s third floor is coming back with a bang. The spot’s new bar conceptcalled Dilemma will open this weekend starting today, Thurs., Sept. 8, from 6 p.m.-12 a.m.
Cause
To help fight against suitcase poverty for foster kids, City Councilwoman Demetrus Coonrod will collect suitcases of all sizes throughout September to donate to a local foster care agency. If you wish to donate, suitcases can be dropped off at city hall.

14. That’s how many local nonprofit organizations ArtsBuild announced were funded through this year’s Tennessee Arts Commission’s Arts Build Communities (ABC) Grants. The ABC grants help broaden access to arts experiences, address community quality of life issues through the arts + more.

NiteOwl Urgent Care will open a second location in Ooltewah on Sun., Sept. 11. The full-service urgent care center will offer residents of the greater Chattanooga area convenient access to quality medical care. In remembrance of 9/11, free care will be offered to first responders on Sept. 11.

This month’s Friends of HixsonCommunity Coffee Meeting will take place on Wed., Sept. 21 at the Clear Creek Church (5612 Hixson Pike). The community is invited to attend to listen to Chattanooga Parks & Outdoors Administrator Scott Martin give an update on what’s happening within the department.
UTC
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga will host its 12th Annual Constitution Day Lecture Series on Wed., Sept. 14. This free event is open to the UTC community + general public, and will cover topics spanning economic freedom and the Constitution — the lecture will also be available via livestream.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month locally
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Latina Professionals of Chattanooga
In honor of the month, Latina Professionals of Chattanooga will host its first annualHispanic/Latinx Heritage Month Celebration. This year’s Hispanic Heritage Month theme is “Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation” — to demonstrate that we’re a stronger community when we’re together, the organization will host various events at different venues around Chattanooga + Dalton, GA.
All of the events — which you can find here (in both English + Spanish) — will feature Latin American music, food, and special guests discussing their experiences and stories. Editor Brianna is excited about the opening celebration fiesta, and Editor Kristen is looking forward to the Latinos in the Arts event.
