2023 is here, and with it will come a whole new year of reasons to have Chattanooga pride. Who knows what new restaurant might open, what skyline changes we might see + all the concerts, art exhibits, and markets that will come to town.But we know one thing for sure — we want to write about what matters to you, our readers, the most.
That’s why we’re polling the crowd for questions you want answered in 2023 — any piece of Chattanooga life you’ve always wanted to read into with your morning cup of coffee in hand. The Unity Group’s 53rd annual MLK Week will begin on Sunday, Jan. 8 and last through Monday, Jan. 16. The week will feature various events, including the annual MLK parade and march starting at Miller Park at 1 p.m. on Jan. 16.

The Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce launched a public survey for those who live or work in Hamilton County about economic and talent development priorities. Survey responses will influence the next iteration of the chamber and partners’ strategic master plan,Chattanooga Climbs Higher.

A new steakhouse called Number Ten Chattanooga is now open at 1925 Myrtle St. (inside the mixed-use, 120-year-old Burnside warehouse). The restaurant features steaks, burgers, small plates, and craft cocktails + is open Tuesday-Saturday from 5-9 p.m. 🍴
The Chattanooga Red Wolves announced that their home opener for the 2023 season will take place on March 25 against Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC. Season tickets for the 2023 season are also on sale now. âš˝
Arts
Stove Works recently announced its 2023 artists-in-residence. The artists will soon be living and working at Stove Works for one to three months over the next year. Learn more about the residency program online. 🎨
Pet
McKamey Animal Center announced that it will no longer be labeling dogs in its care by breed — instead, the shelter said that it will focus on personalities, behavioral traits, and circumstances unique to each dog.
State
Former Hamilton County Judge Tom Greenholtz is one of three finalists who could fill Sharon Lee’s seat on the Tennessee Supreme Court. If selected, Greenholtz would fill Lee’s seat after she retires on Aug. 31. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
