Kristen here. 👋 I’m keeping my fingers crossed for some sunshine this weekend (even if it’s still a little chilly outside). I’m also hoping to make it out to one of The Chattanooga Theatre Centre’s “The Color Purple” performances — the novel it’s based on was one of my favorites I read during my undergrad.

  • Black History Month Showcase w/ C-Grimey | Friday, Feb. 17 | 8 p.m. | Wanderlinger Brewing Co., 1208 King St., Chattanooga | $10 | Enjoy a night of live music, live art performances, Black culture, networking, and togetherness hosted by C-Grimey.

  • “The Color Purple” | Saturday, Feb. 18-Sunday, Feb. 19 | Times vary | Chattanooga Theatre Centre, 400 River St., Chattanooga | $20-$30 | Check out this local musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel.
  • DIZGO with Three Star Revival | Saturday, Feb. 18 | 9-11:55 p.m. | The Barrelhouse Ballroom, 1501 Long St., Chattanooga | $15-$20 | Get ready to dance to “jamtronica” tunes mixed with funk, deep-groove soul, and psychedelic rock.
  • Latin Night! | Saturday, Feb. 18 | 10 p.m. | 107 Entertainment, 2255 Center St., Chattanooga | $10-$80 | Guest DJ Bori from Memphis will be in town playing Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cumbia, and Reggaeton music.
Sunday, Feb. 19
  • THE LOBBY | Sunday, Feb. 19 | 6-7:30 p.m. | Bode Chattanooga, 730 Chestnut St., Chattanooga | Free | Come out for a comedy open mic night in Bode Hotel’s lobby bar — if you want to participate, sign-ups are from 5:30-6 p.m.
  • Small Spaces Tour | Sunday, Feb. 19 | 8 p.m. | Cherry Street Tavern, 719 Cherry St., Chattanooga | $10 | Listen to an evening of music by Fawley, Timothy Edward Carpenter, and Spencer Thomas Smith.

  • After listening to feedback from passengers, the Chattanooga Airport will resume nonstop flight services to Miami, FL beginning on June 3. The route will be provided by American Airlines on a Saturday-only service to Miami International Airport. 🌴

  • North Chickamauga Creek Gorge — a 7,093-acre natural area near Soddy-Daisy — is one of four parks that will receive state park status from Gov. Bill Lee. Along with the designation, funds will be requested to hire staff to help manage the park. 🌳 (Chattanooga Times Free Press)

  • This year’s Chattanooga Green Prix will take place March 24-25 at Volkswagen Chattanooga. The Green Prix is currently seeking volunteers and sponsors. 🏎️
