Which got me thinking — how much does it cost to rent a two-bedroom apartment in the Chattanooga area? 🧐 Let’s break it down.
By the numbers 💰 $832. The Fair Market Rental price (including utilities) for a two-bedroom in the Chattanooga Metropolitan area. In TN, the FMR for the same-sized apartment is $889, which is $357 less than the national average.
💰 88. The number of hours you’d have to work per week on minimum wage (in TN this is $7.25) to afford a two-bedroom apartment in Chattanooga. A renter who makes a mean wage would need to work 45 hours a week to afford the same-sized apartment.
💰 $16. The hourly wage a Chattanooga resident would have to make to afford a two-bedroom apartment in the city. That’s a yearly income of $33,280.
💰 35%. There are 55,173 households (out of 157,913) currently renting in Chattanooga, making up 35% of the city’s population.
💰 34.Tennessee ranks as the 34th most expensive(or 16th least expensive) state in the country for renters. Hawaii is the most expensive + Arkansas is the least expensive.

A lot of people have a roommate to help with the costs of renting.

Enterprise South Nature Park was used for production + storage of TNT during WWII, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War? The park is 1,300 acres and makes up part of the former Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant. TNT was produced there until 1977 and long-term restoration started in 1998.
Reddit user MimosaMadness was gifted this old TNT box from their dad, and we think it’s so cool. Oh, and if you visit the nature park, you can still see old TNT bunkers along the trails. Anyone down for a hike? 🚶

NOOGAdiaries day No. 17: Is this week flying by for anyone else? Trista here, and my schedule has been packed, so I’m shocked to see it’s almost Friday again already. On Monday, I went on a tour of Common House to see the progress being made, and y’all, it’s looking so good. I can’t wait for it to open next year. I already applied and paid my membership dues, so I’ve been enjoying Common House’s virtual events + classes. I started a screenwriting class on Tuesday night and I’m thrilled to try my hand at writing a movie script. 🎥
Is anyone else a member already? Have you taken any classes yet?
