Tennessee American Water: Please restrict nonessential water use because of valve break

Authored By Sean Phipps

Tennessee American Water is asking customers to restrict nonessential usage as the company works on a major repair.

According to a TAM official, a 24-inch valve has broken, affecting the water flow for two of the system’s pressure zones east of Missionary Ridge.

Residents east of Missionary Ridge-including East Brainerd, East Ridge, Highway 58 and Lakeview, Georgia-could possibly experience low water pressure or no water service.

Areas above 820 feet are most likely to be affected.

There is no estimate on a completion time, but crews are “working safely and as quickly as possible.”

“Our ultimate goal is to replace the broken valve,” TAM Director of Operations Kevin Kruchinski said in a prepared statement. “We are working safely to restore water service to all customers as soon as possible.”

Nonessential water usage includes outdoor watering, filling swimming pools, washing cars, and leisure hose and sprinkler activity.
