First Look: OddStory Brewing Co.'s new location

This Thurs., Oct. 6, OddStory Brewing Co.'s new location will open for business at 1604 Central Ave.

What to expect from the highly anticipated new spot? Luckily, we got a sneak peek of the space — meaning that today, you’re getting a sneak peek of the space. 👇

The main space

Enter OddStory’s new location and be met with The Chicks’ favorite song material — wide open spaces. Jokes aside, we were struck by how open the main space felt, with plenty of seating + a (mostly) clear wall giving you a peek right into the brewing process.

Take your pick of a four-person table, bar-like seating that faces the outdoor space, or a communal table where you can make friends. Don’t forget to check out the “swag shop” with merch + to-go beer.

The lounge

Tucked behind the main bar area is a cozy lounge with plenty o’ plants and comfy seating. Relax on one of the velvet seats and admire the exposed brick.

Bonus: This spot will put you closest to the restrooms.

The patio

One of the most exciting parts of the Central Avenue location is the large outdoor area where you can find OddStory’s new, full kitchen, Anomaly. We’re particularly delighted by the menu — we don’t wanna give away everything, but Editor Brianna is eyeing the vegan curry fries, and Editor Kristen can’t wait to try the Szechuan bao.

Besides the kitchen, the patio also has:
  • A dog waste station, making the new location kid and dog-friendly
  • Three sets of custom cornhole boards
  • A variety of seating, from Adirondack chairs in the sun to covered tables
  • Bistro lights, which make everything better
Check it all out for yourself this Thursday from 4-10 p.m.

The Refindery gets a nostalgic addition

Get ready for a wave of nostalgia.

A major character from 80s classic “The Neverending Story” has made his way to the Scenic City.

The Falkor replica was created by a New Jersey-based artist several years ago, and is one of the few replicas of this quality to exist. You can view the familiar face of our favorite luck dragon at The Refindery on McCallie Avenue.

While you’re there, here are a few other unique finds to search for that we discovered during a recent trip:
  • Plenty of Halloween decor, from pumpkins to skeletons + old, creepy dolls
  • Vintage flashlights — including one that still works (and would make the perfect accessory to a Nancy Drew Halloween costume, btw)
  • A large Sasquatch display
  • A Miller High Life lamp that puts the classic frat boy neon beer sign to shame
  • A sign displaying Chattanooga’s skyline made out of unique materials like bike chains + dominoes
THE WRAP

Today’s issue was written by Brianna.

Editor’s pick: Did you know that Girls Inc. of Chattanooga has a Latina Immersion Program? I recently learned via the organization’s Instagram that this program works to integrate familiar cultural elements, promote positive Latina role models, and empower Latina girls to develop resiliency + shape their futures, which is pretty neat.
