  • A new ramp has opened that will link US Highway 27 coming from downtown Chattanooga to Southside. The ramp is part of a $32 million I-24 to South Broad Street interchange improvement project. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
Civic
  • Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly, Special Advisor David Roddy, and local nonprofits will present a mayoral proclamation recognizing April 2023 as “Sexual Assault Awareness Month.” A ceremony will honor those affected + offer local resources to the community.
Edu
  • Applications are now open for the Future Docs program to high school graduates and college students pursuing the medical field. The program will teach students about physician work through a mentoring experience. Apply by Wednesday, April 26.
Biz
  • The Creative Discovery Museum will be extending its hours from Saturday, April 1 through Saturday, April 8 to accommodate spring break crowds. The temporary new hours will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. + will resume back to regular business hours on Sunday, April 9.
  • ChattaBrew Tour will celebrate five years in business on Friday, April 7 — which is also National Beer Day. The tour company offers 21+ walking tours and trips aboard its “brew bus” to local breweries. Bonus: For BOGO tours on Friday, April 7-Saturday, April 8, use discount code “FIVEYEARS.”

  • Ready for a change of base? It’s the opening week in MLB, and our own Chattanooga Lookouts are gearing up for their season. The opening game will be against the Mississippi Braves on Tuesday, April 11. Get tickets online.

  • The 30 bands competing in the Road to Nightfall competition have been announced. The preliminary rounds will be held at the Granfalloon on Thursday, April 6-Saturday, April 8 + Thursday, April 13-Friday, April 14. Get your tickets to support these local bands.

  • The Tennessee Aquarium accomplished something turtley awesome and hatched two Arakan Forest turtles. This is the first successful breed of the endangered species since hatching at a California-based Turtle Conservancy in 2017. View footage of the turtles.

I had so much fun participating in crafty hour activities at The Greenhouse with Scenic City Clay Arts. For this series, you got to enjoy brews while creating your own handmade mug. The folks with SCCA were so kind and helpful, and I can’t wait to pick up my finished mug soon.
