It’s a blooming time of year, and whether you’re in the market for fresh cut flowers or plants to brighten up your space, Chattanooga has a lot of options. Here are just a few to check out — we’ll leaf you to it.

Joli Jardin Flower Shop | 1263 Market St. | Flowers come from this spot’s nearby farm + the shop is set up like a European-style flower market. You can make your own bouquet or ask for assistance. Bonus: folks can also stop by the shop’s flower trucks at various markets and events.

Note: Joli Jardin shares a studio with Venya Portrait — so you can have a photo shoot with the store’s flowers.

Creekside Flower Farm | 5549 N. Marble Top Rd., Chickamauga | Visit the farm to see what flowers are in season + stop by on the U-Pick days to get a jar of stems or build DIY buckets for weddings and other events.

Development
  • Embassy Suites has plans to build a $54 million hotel at 4th + Broad Street. The upcoming 184-room hotel and conference facility would be the biggest new investment in downtown Chattanooga in over a decade. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
Health
  • Double Up Food Bucks — a healthy food incentive program that “increases low-income shoppers’ purchasing power for fruits and vegetables” — has come to Chattanooga. The program has partnered with Brainerd and Main Street Farmers Markets, Gaining Ground Grocery + Crabtree Farms. (Chattanoogan.com)
Outdoors
  • The public is invited to join the Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors Department on Thursday, May 18 to discuss the future of the Chattanooga Skate Park. Designer Regan Smith + California Skateparks will give a presentation about design features and plans.
Sports
  • May the 4th be with you, Nooga. Thursday, May 4 is Star Wars Night with the Chattanooga Lookouts. Come out to the game with your Star Wars apparel + have the opportunity to meet some of the characters. Get your tickets.
Concert
  • After five nights of competition with over 150 musicians + 30 bands, the five bands that have made it to the Road to Nightfall Finals have been announced. The finalists will perform on Saturday, May 6 at The Granfalloon for a headlining spot at Nightfall on June 30.
Biz
  • Chattanooga’s Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) will be closed to the public until August 23 for summer break. During the closure, the institute will undergo some needed facilities maintenance work. ICA will reopen on August 24 with its fall exhibition.
Pets
  • Now through Monday, May 15, McKamey Animal Center (MAC) will waive all adoption fees for adult and senior dogs + cats. MAC is participating in BISSELL Pet Foundation and Dogtopia’s “Empty the Shelters” national campaign to bring these pets to their forever homes. See the adoptable pets.

  • You won’t want to miss this, Nooga — on Saturday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m., The Chattanooga Symphony ends their ‘22-23 season with “Cirque de la Symphonie": an exciting production featuring aerial flyers, contortionists, dancers, jugglers + more. Tickets start at $15 and are on sale now.*

Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center will be getting down with some good eats + tunes on Sunday, May 14 at its Brunch and Blooms event.

Whether you want to honor that mother figure in your life, or simply enjoy a fun afternoon at the native plant nursery, this event will be full of good times.

Each ticket will get folks a brunch with cocktails, live music from local act Call Me Spinster, a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery, and shop from the nursery’s selection of native plants.

Note: seating may be limited, so bring a blanket or chairs to enjoy with friends + family.

Tickets are expected to sell fast, so get yours while you can.
