Civic
  • Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly will host his next set of open office hours on Friday, Sept. 22 from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the South Chattanooga Community Center. Have a question? Request an appointment to meet the mayor + speak with a staff member.
Traffic
  • Tremont Street (between River Street + the waterfront) will be closed now through Sunday, Sept. 10 for the Moon River Music Festival setup and teardown. Detours will be posted.

  • New breakfast bistro + bar The Downtowner is set to open inside The Hotel Bo at 901 Carter St. (the former downtown City Café location). Follow the spot’s Facebook page for updates and more details.

  • Remote Area Medical will host a free two-day healthcare clinic on Saturday, Sept. 9 + Sunday, Sept. 10 at Camp Jordan Arena. Free dental, vision, and medical services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 6 a.m. (Local 3)

Keep calm and geek on at the 10th annual Cleveland Geekster on Saturday, Sept. 23 right outside of Chattanooga at Cleveland State Community College (located at 3535 Adkisson Dr.).

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can connect + shop with local self-proclaimed geeks such as yourself. With over 40 vendors and 75 tables, this family-friendly event will have something for everyone.

Peruse comic books, vintage toys like action figures, and various pop culture-related memorabilia while having the opportunity to meet local comic artists like Andy Duggan, Carie Varner, and Jordan Holt.

Bonus: As part of the convention’s annual charity, each vendor will donate a small toy or collectible + raffle tickets are sold for $1 throughout the day — the winner will walk home with all of the donated items while funds will go towards a local cause.

Tickets are $10 at the door + kids under 12 get in for free.
