High school football’s championship event of the year is back.
Welcoming 1,100 statewide athletes, the BlueCross Bowl represents the pinnacle of high school football in Tennessee. The action-packed event happens Thursday, Nov. 30-Saturday, Dec. 2 at Finley Stadium — and features 18 teams competing in nine games, culminating in the crowning of nine state champions.
A ticket allows you to cheer from the stands all day (think: one ticket, three games). Here’s the schedule:

In observance of Thanksgiving, CARTA will halt all bus, shuttle, and Care-A-Van services tomorrow, Nov. 23. All bus services will resume regular scheduling on Friday, Nov. 24.

The Union Gospel Mission will be serving meals during its annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner today, Nov. 22 at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center. Stop by for classic meats and sides from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (or until the food runs out). Note:Volunteers are still needed.

In honor of Giving Tuesday, the Humane Educational Society is launching The Incredible Journey initiative. This new annual fund will support essential medical care, educational programming, the cost of supplies, and the organization’s ongoing efforts to help animals.

The Chattanooga Public Library Foundation will host its Holiday Book Sale on Saturday, Nov. 25 + Monday, Nov. 27-Friday, Dec. 1. Shop books from all genres and for all ages on the fourth floor at the downtown branch location.
