Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp announced that four county high schools will receive upgrades to their athletic facilities. River City Co. will host an installation ceremony today, Nov. 29 at 3 p.m. in front of Frothy Monkey to unveil the new Southside district banners. The banners were created through a collaboration program with local artists to welcome residents and visitors + help refresh the city.

McCoy Farm and Gardens in Signal Mountain will host their annual tree lighting event tomorrow, Nov. 29. Beginning at 5 p.m., folks can visit with Santa, shop gifts, design ornaments, sip on hot chocolate, and more before the lighting at 6:30 p.m.

In-Town Gallery’s December show “Wizardry With Wood” opens on Friday, Dec. 1 featuring the creations of woodworking artist Roger Harvey. See Harvey’s wooden bowls, lamps, and vases on display through Sunday, Dec. 31.
Cause
The Chambliss Center for Children will host a free Foster Parent Info Night on Tuesday, Dec. 5. Attendees can learn more about the requirements for fostering and adoption, the training process, and have their questions answered by members of the organization. Learn how to RSVP.

WIC services go mobile in the Scenic City
Mobile WIC services become available in Chattanooga

With the help of the Hamilton County Health Department + the city’s Office of Community Health, the area’s Women, Infants, & Children Program (WIC) has expanded.
Folks can now receive mobile services from the East Lake Community Center, located at 3610 Dodds Ave., every Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will also be onsite bilingual staff to assist with Spanish-speaking clients.
What does WIC offer? This program provides nutrition education, breastfeeding education + support, nutritious foods, and health referrals to women, infants, and children who are eligible.
Who qualifies? WIC services are available for those who are pregnant, breastfeeding (up to the infant’s first birthday), non-breastfeeding/postpartum (up to six months after birth or pregnancy ends), infants under one + children (including foster children) under five.
Appointments are required and can be booked by calling 423-209-8050 + you will need proof of ID, income, and residence.
