If your visitors are ready for some outdoor fun, grab a hot cocoa from The Hot Chocolatier and head to Ice on the Landing for a winter outing. Taking a hike at one of these popular local trails or strolling the Tennessee Riverwalk is another great way to take in all of the beauty that the Scenic City has to offer.

Beginning in 2024, CARTA will offer folks free ride opportunities. For the first quarter of the year (January through March), you can ride all bus services for free on the first Friday of the month.
Civic
Hamilton County recently proposed rezoning a portion of the McDonald Farm site in nearby Sale Creek to help fund several projects. Awaiting approval, 871 acres will be rezoned for manufacturing roads, water, and wastewater systems. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
Traffic
The St. Elmo area will experience road closures on Saturday, Dec. 16 for the Chattanooga Luminaria Festival. West 55th Street (between St. Elmo + Beulah avenues) will be closed from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Detours will be posted.
Outdoors
Hamilton County will apply for a $250,000 grant from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation for a restoration and clean-up project in Red Bank. Notably, a 300-ft segment of Stringer’s Branch will get a naturalized river channel + public access improvements.
Announced
Local nonprofit Green Steps has announced it will be changing the way it conducts its litter clean-ups. Starting now, the organization will only host volunteer clean-ups with accompanying sponsorships. See all changes.
Cause
The Secret Garden will host a fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 16 at its Cleveland location (75 Central Ave. NW). All day long, 30% of purchases will benefit Woodsong Forest School to support the school’s efforts in education through “play-based learning in nature.”

The Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga will host its Jewish Documentary Film Series starting Sunday, Jan. 7. See four award-winning documentary films in-person or virtually through Friday, Feb. 2.
