Where to get soup in Chattanooga

Hey, Nooga. Editor Kristen here. I adore a good bowl of soup, and when the weather starts to cool down and local spots start adding soups to the menu — I can’t help but get excited.

A while back, I asked our readers + followers if they had any soup recommendations I needed to try, and y’all came through, to say the least. In honor of soup season, I thought I would share some of my favorites in town and some of the suggestions I received.

Wooden City, 203 Broad St.
Try the French onion soup made with bone broth, sourdough croutons, melted Swiss, and aged balsamic recommended by @myla_senff + @sarahdinic.

The Rosecomb, 921 Barton Ave.
Try out the seasonal soup offerings at this NorthShore spot, currently parsnip + rutabaga soup is on the menu.

Rembrandt’s Coffee House, 204 High St.
I’m in complete agreement with reader Noel L. who recommended this spot’s tomato artichoke soup. Pro tip: This soup pairs perfectly with the Say Cheese sandwich on sourdough.

Warm up on those chillier days with this spicy soup.

Mezcla Cocina Y Cantina, 2 Cherokee Blvd.
Try the Carne En Su Jugo — a spicy beef soup made with steak, tomatillo salsa, pinto beans, bacon, cebollitas, chiles + toreados — recommended by @channell_scott.

Tremont Tavern, 1203 Hixson Pk.
Who said a bowl of soup wasn’t the perfect side for a burger? Reader Helen A. recommends the white bean with bacon soup from this NorthShore spot.

Han-Mi, 3103 Broad St.
Reader Jenni suggested the scratch ramen + chicken noodle soup that’s made with homemade chicken broth. Bonus: I also recommend trying out the Mandu-Guk (dumpling soup), the dumplings and rice cakes are the perfect soup additions.

Vine Street Market, 1313 Hanover St.
Check out the soups of the day at this cozy market + bakery in NorthShore — @mattsmemoirs recommends the tortellini soup. If the Fiesta Chicken Chowder is on the menu, it’s also a must-try.

Have a favorite soup in town you’d like to recommend? Let me know for a potential part two.

Ruby Falls to celebrate 95th anniversary with year-long celebration

NOOGAtoday | Ruby Falls

In honor of the 95th anniversary of the discovery of Ruby Falls, the Lookout Mountain attraction will kick off a year-long celebration beginning Saturday, Dec. 30.

You may be wondering the significance of the date — that’s when Leo Lambert discovered the Ruby Falls cave in 1928. To double up on the fun, the first 95 tickets for select Discovery Day tours will be available for the original price of $2, and guests will receive postcards and history booklets (while supplies last) to take home.

What else can you expect from the festivities? Think: New experiences, exhibits, special edition cave adventures, and discounted tour rates for residents of local counties.

Make sure to keep up with Ruby Falls on Instagram for additional announcements of events, activities + giveaways throughout 2024.
