We’ve all been there, folks. A new year rolls around and you’re posed with the question of what you want to change or achieve. That’s why here at NOOGAtoday, we’re treating resolutions a little differently — we want to know, what are your Chattanooga-specific resolutions?

Maybe you’ve lived here your whole life but there are sights you’ve never seen, or you’re still getting used to the area and want to feel more like a local. Big or small, we want to hear them all. To get you started, we’ll go first.

Editor Haley here. I’ll be the first to admit resolutions aren’t often my strong suit, typically forgotten within the first few months of the year. There are a few things though that I’m looking forward to challenging myself in 2024.
  • Get back into hiking by trying out a new trail once a month
  • Finally pick up the hobbies of pottery and sewing — Scenic City Clay Arts + The Knot and Needle, I’m coming for you
  • Go to more live shows at our venues
  • Join a local book club
  • Cook more meals with only local ingredients from a farmers market

2024 is the year to finally get crafty.

Editor Kristen here. I’m a firm believer that resolutions can be made any time during the year, but a fresh start never hurts. Here are a few things I’d like to achieve in 2024.
  • Volunteer with local organizations more often — I would love to work alongside the Tennessee Aquarium
  • I’m right with Editor Haley on picking up a new hobby or skill, I plan on taking classes with The Chattery more often this year
  • Add some more books to my TBR pile — especially some written by local authors
Your turn to let us know. You might just see them in an upcoming newsletter.

Try This: Brunch at Big Bad Breakfast

In case you missed it, earlier this year the NorthShore area welcomed James Beard award-winning Chef John Currence with the opening of Big Bad Breakfast.

Located at 313 Manufacturers Rd., this breakfast and lunch spot is a perfect destination to meet your friends or take those out-of-towners this holiday season. Recently Editors Kristen + Haley got to enjoy their morning with brunch, and we’re hashing out all the details.

Here are some of our must-haves from the menu:
  • Biscuits | Regular with jam + the “Cathead” chicken biscuit | These biscuits are made in-house daily and were the perfect amount of fluffy — we recommend trying all jam offerings (but the blackberry was our favorite).
  • Main dishes | Huevos rancheros grit bowl, avocado toast, sun-dried cranberry + almond granola, and French toast | From the pork sausage (Fun fact: BBB gets all meat specially curated for its menu) to the soft texture of the French toast, it’s hard to pick a favorite on the menu.
Sip it down with these drinks

Something I do every year (and sadly haven’t yet) is drive around to see the decorated homes in our surrounding neighborhoods. Seen one that is decking all the halls? Let me know.
