The city’s landfill, Wood Recycling Center, Refuse and Recycle Collection Centers + Household Hazardous Waste Facility will be closed on Monday, Jan. 15 for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Garbage and recycling collection scheduled for Monday will be collected as normal.
Festival
The lineup for the annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival just dropped. The festival will take place Thursday, June 13-Sunday, June 16 in nearby Manchester + feature headlining performances by Post Malone, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Fred Again.
In honor of the new year, the Chattanooga Humane Educational Society has lowered its adoption fees to $24 for the remainder of the month. Note: Adoptions include spay/neuter, vaccinations, a microchip, and a heartworm + combo test. See all adoptable animals.

The Chattanooga Library has opened a new traveling exhibit on the first floor of the downtown branch. “Politics of Yellow Fever in Alexander Hamilton’s America,” which explores the yellow fever outbreak in 1793, will be on display through Saturday, Feb. 17. (The Pulse)

“Vessel,” featuring the work of 25 local + national artists, is now on display at the Jewish Cultural Center through Friday, Feb. 23. Folks can check out the exhibit free of charge during gallery hours or by appointment.

The Chattanooga Public Library will celebrate Tennessee royalty Dolly Parton’s birthday with a special Reading 9 to 5 contest on Friday, Jan. 19. It’s time to pour yourself a cup of ambition because we’re breaking down some of the fun.
To highlight folks’ love for reading and Parton’s work through the Imagination Library, this takeover will have events at all area branches from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Think: Scavenger hunts, readings, a Dolly matinee movie screening, and Dolly-themed trivia.
For the main event, enter the all-ages 9 to 5 Reading Contest by heading to any library location + picking up a special bookmark to track your reading for the day. Once complete, return the bookmark for a chance to win prizes.
Bonus: Signal Centers will be offering a limited supply of free books from the Imaginary Library at all locations.
