Volkswagen Chattanooga workers, with a 73% majority, recently voted to unionize under United Auto Workers. This marks a first-time win in the South outside of the “Big Three” automakers — General Motors, the Ford Motor Co. + Chrysler — for the 3,600 employees at Volkswagen. (The Pulse)

UTC has appointed Tim Gritten as dean of the university’s library. Gritten, who was the executive director of the library and special collections at Texas A&M University-San Antonio will begin his role in July. Girls Inc. of Chattanooga will host its UnBought and UnBossed Sneaker Gala on Saturday, May 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center. The evening will feature a silent auction and luncheon + recognition of four women within the community during the presentation of the Sole Awards. Get tickets online.

The City of East Ridge is inviting residents and their mother figures to its annual Mother’s Day Tea Party on Saturday, April 11 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the East Ridge Community Center. Note: Registration is required + you must donate a non-perishable food item to the food pantry.
