Get ready to leap with excitement, ‘cause TVFCU’s Idea Leap Grant events are back for a seventh year of sparking local innovation.

Headlining the week is the Idea Leap Grant Pitch Competition on Thursday, May 2, where five local finalists of community entrepreneurs + small businesses pitch their best business ideas to a crowd of fans and judges for a chance to win grants of up to $30,000.

Attendance is free, but seats are limited, so registration is required.

Development
  • Cambridge Square, a commercial and residential complex in nearby Ooltewah, recently expanded with the construction of a new two-story building. Along with two boutique expansions, seven new shops are slated to open in the space by this summer. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)

  • Bento Ya, a local restaurant serving up Shikoku regional cuisine, recently opened its doors in NorthShore at 111 Frazier Ave. Check out the menu to see dishes ranging from sushi rolls and bento boxes to oden bowls and gyoza.

  • Chattanooga Football Club announced its two elite youth teams (U13 + U14) will enter the MLS NEXT league in the 2025-2026 season. MLS Next aims to provide players with access to the “highest levels of competition” and training opportunities.

  • Scenic City Shakespeare will kick off its third season of Shakespeare in the Park on Friday, May 3. Folks can come out to Greenway Farms on Fridays and Saturdays in May to see a free double feature of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” + “The Comedy of Errors.”
