In need of Memorial Day plans? Here are some ideas to eat, drink, and play your way through a long weekend in Chattanooga.
Friday, May 24
5 p.m. | After you clock out of work, head to The Greenhouse for the first week of the Nightfall Happy Hour. You’ll get to enjoy drink deals + live jazz music before heading to the downtown concert. Pro tip: Make sure to pick up a punch card for a chance to win prizes at a later date.
6 p.m. | End your night enjoying the kick off of the annual free concert series at Miller Park + Plaza, Nightfall. The vendor market opens at 6 p.m., food and drinks are available starting at 6:30 p.m., and the bands will take the stage at 7 p.m.
Saturday, May 25
10 a.m. | Fuel your weekend with a coffee from the newly-opened Just Love Coffee Cafe, they’ll be celebrating their grand opening at 67 E. 4th St. with giveaways + free food and drink samples.
3 p.m. | Take a dip in The Hotel Chalet at The Choo Choo’s pool, you can purchase pool passes at The Caboose at Elsie’s Daughter. Folks can also enjoy drinks, food, and music — there will even be hotdogs on the menu for Memorial Day weekend.

The city’s landfill, Wood Recycling Center, Refuse and Recycle Collection Centers + Household Hazardous Waste Facility will be closed on Monday, May 27 in observance of Memorial Day. Garbage and recycle collection scheduled for Monday will be collected as normal.

The Chattanooga Airport will offer nonstop flights to the St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport beginning Tuesday, June 25. Allegiant will expand its flights with “exclusive Tuesday departures through the end of the year.” Bonus: Make sure to say hi to our friends at TBAYtoday if you visit.

The Chattanooga Humane Educational Society (HES) is in need of kitten supplies for its fosters. Items include Gerber baby food (chicken flavored), mini Miracle Nipples for feeding, and foldable pet playpens. Fun fact: HES took in 66 new kittens last week.

The Creative Discovery Museum will unveil its new interactive exhibit “Wallace & Gromit: Get Cracking” tomorrow, May 25. Kiddos ages 3-9 can enjoy STEM-based problem-solving activities like blasting off in a rocket. The exhibit will run through Sunday, Sept. 8.

Obvious Dad’s outreach program Southern Exposure is seeking storytellers for its upcoming “UnMasking: Gun Violence Survivors Speak” series. Participants will go through three phases (story collection, performance coaching + the performance) from Saturday, June 1 through Sunday, Sept. 29, sharing their experiences on stage. The Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors Department has announced the summer lineup for its Movies in a Park series. From Saturday, June 1 through Saturday, Aug. 10, you can enjoy weekly free screenings around the city’s parks. Bonus: Two evenings will be dedicated to poolside fun at Warner Park.
