The Paris 2024 Olympics feature several new + newish sports: breaking, skateboarding, sport climbing, surfing, and 3x3 basketball. Let’s explore what you need to know about these new events and their rules.

Skateboarding

Stoked about skateboarding at the Summer Olympics? Us too. This sport is newish to the Games — it debuted at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and it seems it’s here to stick.
The world’s greatest skateboarders will compete in two disciplines across preliminary and final events: park + street skating.
Chattown Skate Park | This well-lit park offers ramps, rails, and boxes for skaters, bikers, and in-line skaters.
Sport Climbing
Kiddos can learn the ropes of rock climbing at High Point’s summer camps.

This new Olympic sport is going to rock your world. Similar to skateboarding, sport climbing made its Olympic debut at the Tokyo Games, and it’s also here for the long haul.
This sport is hosted in three formats: bouldering, speed climbing, and lead climbing.
Sport climbing events will take place at Le Bourget between today, Aug. 5 and Saturday, Aug. 10.

Here’s where you can climb to new heights in Chattanooga:
High Point Climbing & Fitness | With two locations in the area, you can get hands-on with indoor bouldering and climbing. Equipment is available for rent at the gyms, or you can bring your own.

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga raised a record-breaking $60 million+ through donors for 2024. Thiswill bring many changes to campus, including the Dorothy and Jim Kennedy Health Sciences Building, which will break ground in the fall. (Chattanooga Pulse)
