🔍 Up for a scavenger hunt?

NOOGAtoday | Ruby Falls
Discover parts of Ruby Falls you may have missed previously. | Photo provided by Ruby Falls
Ruby Falls has been welcoming guests to Lookout Mountain for 95 years, and as part of its year-long anniversary celebration, the attraction has introduced a new activity for guests.

Enter: The Hidden Passages Scavenger Hunt. Now through Thursday, Oct. 31, guests are invited to see how many tiny, whimsical passages (think: small doorways that lead to magical places) they can find above-ground throughout Ruby Falls’ campus. Pro tip: Make sure to see the passages hidden within the historic castle, too.

Hidden Passages is inspired by Leo Lambert, who discovered the Ruby Falls Cave + underground waterfall in 1928. Following his discovery, Lambert wrote in his journal, “Sometimes the unknown is the greatest adventure” — and guests are encouraged to channel their adventurous and curious spirits for the scavenger hunt.

You can join in on the fun with admission to Ruby Falls, just stop by the Hospitality Center to get the materials you need to start your exploration.

🎂 Happy birthday to us

NOOGAtoday | Chattanooga
NOOGAtoday has been bringing you stories about the Scenic City for six years. | Photo by Steadfast Images via Chattanooga Tourism Co.
NOOGAtoday is celebrating its sixth birthday tomorrow, Sept. 20, and we thought we would take a trip down memory lane in honor of the occasion. Here’s a look at some of our top stories from over the years:

2018 | Help choose the name for a permanent Cherry Street alley
Chattanooga’s beloved Cooper’s Alley was first introduced to the Scenic City. Residents were asked to weigh in with what they thought the alley should be named — with The 700, Kress Alley, and Market Alley as other contenders.

2019 | $125 million development + stadium coming to East Ridge
It’s no surprise that the announcement of the Chattanooga Red Wolves’ stadium + mixed-use development took the attention of our readers. CHI Memorial Stadium opened in 2020 with the Red Wolves’ match against FC Tucson. Which we won, by the way.

2020 | The flying saucer house on Signal Mountain
To know the flying saucer house is to love it. The unique home that looks like it belongs in space was built in the 1970s by Curtis King. The property has had several owners throughout the years and is now privately owned.

2022 | The story behind “Eric is dead”
After noticing “Eric is dead” written across town and doing some digging of our own, we were able to contact the artist and learn more about the prolific artwork.

2023 | Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel undergoes renovation and rebranding
The beloved downtown Chattanooga Choo Choo underwent a $19 million renovation and was rebranded as The Hotel Chalet at The Choo Choo. The hotel is now available for booking, including stays in its restored Victorian train carriages.

We can’t forget a shout-out to our readers — thank you all for letting us bring you stories about Chattanooga to your inboxes daily.

From the editor
The fall drink menus are starting to make appearances in Chattanooga. Although I’m usually just a black coffee kind of gal, I am eyeing Goodman Coffee Roasters’ drinks that are inspired by classic Gothic literature.

This is your sign to take a friend to coffee.
