CHA Hip-Hop Week to celebrate new and returning talent

Downtown Chattanooga will welcome national + local artists for the fourth annual CHA Hip-Hop Week from Sunday, Oct. 6 through Sunday, Oct. 12.
A project of local organization SoundCorps, CHA Hip-Hop Week aims to promote talent and community, benefiting local artists, entrepreneurs, and business owners.
The week will be packed with formal events, music + business education sessions, live performances, and more. Make sure to check out the full schedule online — here are some of our must-attend events:
Vision + Verse
Head to the Hunter Museum of American Art on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 6 to 7 p.m. for a performance celebrating the museum’s current special exhibit “City as Canvas: Graffiti Art.” Hear from poet Erika Roberts and dancers KG and Lamont Chapman as they blend dance, verse, and music.
Private Sessions with Obbie West
Join West Coast spoken word artist on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. for an intimate evening of poetry + networking. Pro tip: Get your tickets early, there are only 50 spots.
“A Wild Style Exhibit”
Stove Works will host an opening reception for this exhibit presented by the Dogon Society + curated by Jody Harris on Friday, Oct. 11 at 5 p.m.
Black & Yellow Affair with Bun B.
Dress in your finest black + yellow attire on Friday, Oct. 11 for a reception and fireside chat at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center with rapper and entrepreneur Bun B. Bonus: There is also an exclusive VIP Meet + Greet experience available.

The City of Chattanooga has contracted Southern Road and Bridge to oversee the upcoming Walnut Street Bridge renovations. The bridge will remain open until March 17 (with pre-construction beginning on Thursday, Oct. 31) + will be closed through September 2026 — see the plans. (The Pulse)

Legal Aid of East Tennessee + partners are hosting its Chattanooga Pro-Bono Night this evening, Oct. 3 starting at 5 p.m. at the Chattanooga Whiskey Event Hall. Attendees will enjoy an open bar, buffet, and silent auction while celebrating local attorneys, law firms, practices, etc. and their volunteerism.

The Hunter Museum of American Art recently received five Southeastern Museums Conference awards. The recognition — in digital marketing and virtual media projects, gallery installation + mailers — showcases the museum’s innovation in technology, communications, and graphic design. The Houston Museum of Decorative Arts has partnered with the Chattanooga Public Library’s Family Pass program.
