Happy (almost) New Year, Chattanooga.
We’re so grateful to kick off 2025 with you. As we prepare for a promising new year, one thing is certain — we want to write about what matters to you the most.
Are you trying to find out if your favorite festival is returning this year, or wondering about an upcoming development in town? Is there a piece of Chattanooga history you’ve always wanted to know more about? What news gets you excited about opening our newsletter each morning?
The things you asked us this year were some of our favorite stories to cover. From sharing local volunteer opportunities to where the best area hikes are located, we had a blast answering your questions + learning more about our amazing city.

Art-A-Nooga | 7-8 p.m. | Stove Works | Free | This special edition will feature a film recap of this year’s presentations, which includes artist talks, movie reviews, and poetry readings.
Saturday, Dec. 21
Fire-building 101 | 5-6:30 p.m. | Cloudland Canyon State Park, Rising Fawn, GA | Free | Gather around the campfire to enjoy s’mores + learn to build a fire from the ground up — meet at the Interpretive Center.
Sunday, Dec. 22
Home for the Holidays | 3 p.m. | Memorial Auditorium | $15+ | This seasonal celebration features performances by a variety of community groups — arrive early for photos with Santa.
Monday, Dec. 23
“Home Alone” | 2-3:30 p.m. | Chattanooga Public Library, Downtown Branch | Free | Those ages 8-18 can enjoy an interactive screening of this beloved holiday film.
Garbage and recycling collection scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 24 will be collected as normal + services on Wednesday, Dec. 25 will be conducted on Saturday, Dec. 28. Additionally, several collection centers will be closed for the holidays, reopening on Thursday, Dec. 26.
Transit
Speaking of holiday closures, all CARTA services will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25. Hours will be adjusted on Tuesday, Dec. 24 + regular service schedules will resume on Thursday, Dec. 26. See full details.
Travel
In anticipation of holiday travel, TDOT will halt all lane closure activity on interstates + state highways beginning at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23. Workers may be on-site in some construction zones, so continue to use caution. Closures will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 1.
Eat
Today, Dec. 20 is your last chance to order your holiday meal items from Main Street Meats. Pre-order items like rib roasts, ham, mashed potatoes, and coffee cake via email or by calling 423-602-9568.
