“Welcome back,” we all say in unison as the Chattanooga Market gears up for its opening weekend on Saturday, April 26 + Sunday, April 27 under the First Horizon Pavilion.
For its 25th season, you can expect your favorite produce + artisanal vendors to return, live music, food trucks, and more — there’s just nothing like picking up fresh flowersand spending the day shopping in the shade.
Now that we’ve got you excited for this market’s return, here are 10 Sundays you don’t want to miss throughout the season.
Strawberry Festival, May 4
From strawberry salsas and chocolate-covered bites to strawberry-scented candles, you can enjoy the fresh taste of hand-picked berries from our regional farms.
Top Tomato Festival, June 8
Those 21+ can purchase a $15 ticket to sample five different Bloody Marys to determine who has the best flavor — non-alcoholic versions can be requested.
Chattanooga Oktoberfest, Oct. 11 + 12
You can find German traditions under the pavilion during this weekend, from chicken dances and brats to a biergarten featuring craft brews to fill your steins.
Japanese Street Food | 6-9 p.m. | Sweet & Savory Classroom | $99 | Learn to create yakitori, onigiri, okonomiyaki + ichigo ame that will transport your taste buds to the bustling markets of Japan.

The Chattanooga City Council has approved the proposed changes to the city’s tree ordinance, the first comprehensive update in 35 years. The new ordinance works to preserve the area’s canopy for development — see what’s new.
Closing
Not feeling hot about this. The owners of Hoff & Pepper shared with us that they will cease operations on Friday, April 25. The hot sauce company started in 2013 + was even featured on season 16 of “Hot Ones” — get your sauce while you can.
Opening
In case you missed it, NorthShore vintage shop Electric Crocodile will host a grand opening of its expansion on Saturday, April 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Folks will be able to be the first to shop in the added 2,000 sqft + 20 new vendors, including a Croc Kidz space.
Community
Neighborhood Services + CALEB are partnering together for the Neighborhood Leadership Academy. To help strengthen community relationships and goals, members who are registered with neighborhood associations can participate in one of the eight sessions happening May-June — sign up online.
Watch
Get ready to meet Chattanooga’s Sister City Tono, Japan. Barking Legs Theater will host a free premiere screening of its “Cultural Cross Ties Documentary” on Tuesday, April 15. Starting at 6 p.m., you can watch the film, enjoy Japanese tea and snacks + hear from participating Tono artists via Zoom.

The Chattanooga Humane Educational Society will join The Ooltewah Club’s Open House Charity Tournament on Saturday, April 19 at 2 p.m. Your $30 registration fee will get you entry to the nine-hole game + family-friendly fun, with a portion of the proceeds supporting animal rescue efforts.
Coming Soon
The Lookout Mountain Incline Railway is set to reopen this summer, as long as there aren’t delays in construction. In case you missed it, the landmark was closed in December when a wildfire impacted the area — see the journey of reconstruction.

Speaking of records I want to snag soon, I got to see The Japanese House play at The Signal this week, and it’s safe to say that the show is now in my top three of artists I’ve seen play in town. Hearing some of my all-time favorite songs by her was such a wonderful experience (and her vocals live are something everyone should hear).
