Small businesses across the Southeast have a chance to snag part of $225,000 with TVFCU’s 8th Annual Idea Leap Grant.

Chattanooga finalists will compete in a pitch competition next Thursday, May 8, for a grand prize of $30,000.

Tech

EPB announced it will partner with IonQ to add a quantum computer + establish the EPB Quantum Center — the nation’s first facility to provide commercial access to quantum computing and networking. Read more about Chattanooga becoming a catalyst in the state’s emergence as a national hub for quantum innovation.

Sports

The Guatemala + El Salvador national teams will face off in an international friendly at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 31 at Finley Stadium. The match is ahead of the second round of the World Cup, qualifying on FIFA’s June date and the Concacaf Gold Cup. Get tickets.

Closing

Amber Rae Studio announced in an Instagram post that it will close its NorthShore gift shop. The studio will continue to operate at local events + pop-ups, so make sure to follow along on Instagram for future opportunities to shop.

Community

The Chattanooga Public Library has a new addition to its Beyond Books collection: MindSpark Memory Kits. The kits are available to check out at all locations + are filled with activities, puzzles, and games to help people with dementia and other cognitive impairments unlock old memories and create new ones.

TEDxChattanooga will host a conference on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the Walker Theatre. Expect 12 TED talks focused on this year’s theme, “Rooted,” fireside chats, and breakout sessions. Stay tuned for more information + if you want to take the stage, apply to be a speaker.
