Finally, a break from the heat — even if it’s just for a week. Some are saying this week’s temperatures could be the coolest Chattanooga has seen in August in 20 years.

It’s not just cooler — it’s also drier and less humid. In other words, it’s time to embrace “false fall.” Here are a few ways to make the most of this rare cooler stretch:
  • Sip on fall drinks early. Chattz Coffee and Red Owl Coffee Company are already pouring pumpkin spice lattes + other autumn-inspired drinks.
  • Try a new-to-you hiking trail — we rounded up 25 for you to choose from.
  • Settle in for Beach Movie Night at Ross’s Landing this Friday, Aug. 29. With face painting, popcorn, and food trucks — it could have fall festival vibes. Plus, they’re showing Lilo & Stitch.
  • Go to the Fall Food Truck Rally this Sunday, Aug. 31 (read more in my News Notes section).

The Wrap

How do you pronounce Ooltewah? According to a recent study by Preply, it’s the hardest town name to pronounce in all of Tennessee. Go ahead — say it out loud.

If it didn’t come out sounding like OO-da-wah, you might need to practice some more. Are there any other Tennessee town names that trip you up? Let me know.
