Opening

A new sports bar is set to open this December in Cambridge Square. Game Day Social will take over the space formerly occupied by Marthie Ann’s, which closed last month. Fun fact: The owners also run Sprinklez, a boutique ice cream shop in Cleveland. (Chattanoogan)

Traffic

The W Road, which connects Signal Mountain and Chattanooga, will be closed this Sunday, Oct. 26 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for road cleanup. Drivers can use Taft Highway or Roberts Mill Road during the closure. (Local 3 News)

Festival

Tickets are on sale for the Chattanooga Fringe Festival, happening Friday, Nov. 7 through Sunday, Nov. 9 at multiple venues, including Barking Legs Theater, Redbud, and Elks Lodge. UTC Professor Jonathan McNair has a piano piece featured on the Grammy-nominated classical album “Piano Crosscurrents.” The piece — called “Rabun Gap” — was inspired by the Appalachian Mountains and recorded with support from a UTC grant. Winners will be announced at the Grammys on Monday, Feb. 2. Fingers crossed. (The Pulse)

The Humane Educational Society offers free pet food to Hamilton County residents in need through its Pet Food Pantry. You can check eligibility and schedule a pickup online. If you’d like to help, HES is accepting donations of pet food, leashes, collars, and harnesses. (Local 3 News)
