Now that it’s November, is it too early to decorate for the holidays? According to Southern Living, you should wait until after Thanksgiving. They may think differently if they owned this newly listed home near the state line, with the fireplace of our dreams. How could you wait?
Plan Ahead
Chattanooga is an improv city, with lots of ways to learn, participate, and watch. That includes the best in the business. “Whose Live Anyway?” is coming to The Walker Theatre on Tuesday, April 7 and tickets are on sale now. Yes, Ryan Stiles will be there.
Pets
Did you know black cats are less likely to be adopted? Now that Halloween is over, we want to make sure Chattanooga’s inky felines continue to get the love they deserve. Magic, Cosmo, and Astrid are all awaiting adoption at McKamey Animal Center. Check out Mello at Pet Placement Center. (PubMed Central)
Eat
Who’s ready for sausage balls this Thanksgiving? The Food Network says it’s Tennessee’s most unique recipe, and we say they’ll taste even better if you use ingredients from Chattanooga’s farmers markets.
Seasonal
The most famous Christmas tree in the US has been chosen. A 75-year-old Norway Spruce will light up New York City’s Rockefeller Center this holiday season, donated by a family from upstate NY. Soon enough, we’ll be hunting for the perfect tree of our own at one of these spots. (NBC)

I recently toured the temporary home of the Houston Museum of Decorative Arts at 412 East 2nd St. in the Bluff View Art District, and it gave me a whole new appreciation for antiques. The pop-up museum is filled with stunning glassware, pottery, and furniture — all collected by Anna Safley Houston, a pioneering businesswoman with an eye for beauty.
The main museum, just half a block away at 201 High St., is currently being renovated and set to reopen next summer. Until then, you can explore the pop-up location and gift shop Tuesday through Saturday, 12-4 p.m. Trust me — it’s worth a visit.
The Buy
A food warming mat — perfect for holiday hosting so your dishes don’t get cold before serving. It features seven temperature settings and is made from premium silicone to provide uniform heating.
