News Notes

Development

We’re getting a clearer picture of the plans for the redeveloped Engel Stadium. UTC released new renderings that show its vision for transforming the site into a women’s athletics complex and the future home of the Hamilton County Health Department. Read how UTC plans to preserve some of the history.

Mansion Monday

Or should we say Modern Monday? This brand new, 4,045-sqft home off Hixson Pike has a unique look that sets it apart from other homes. It also comes with a mother-in-law suite and the option to add your own private elevator.
“Hey, I just saw a Roseate Spoonbill.” If your partner perked up, congrats — they’ve passed the bird theory test. The trend supposedly tests how tuned-in your sweetheart really is. Bonus: Who doesn’t love local bird talk?

The Word

Frisson. It means the strong feeling of excitement and chills you get when you hear music or see art. Let’s use it in a sentence — I’m going to get frisson when I see Dropkick Murphys at The Signal on Saturday, Feb. 21.

Quoted

“I get more from this daily newsletter than any other news outlet!” That’s what Tiffney C. said during our fundraising campaign last year. Every day, we strive to bring you positive, impactful news about our city, and you can help us in our mission with a one-time donation.

Eat

Taco Bell is selling a Baja Blast-flavored pie this Thanksgiving. The drink’s signature tropical lime flavor has been turned into a filling on a graham cracker crust, topped with whipped cream. To each their own, but we prefer picking up seasonal desserts from Chattanooga’s small businesses like Bread & Butter. (People)

State

House Beautiful just named the most famous building in each US state, and The Parthenon in Nashville took the title for Tennessee. Closer to home, Chattanooga has no shortage of stunning architecture and skyline staples. See for yourself by visiting the Scenic City’s most iconic landmarks.

A really good heating pad to get you through the winter season.
