News Notes

Health

Have you heard of radon gas? You can’t see it or smell it, but it can seep into homes through cracks in the foundation. The Hamilton County Health Department is urging homeowners to test their homes with free radon test kits that are available online. (Local 3 News)

Outdoors

With dangerously cold temps this week, the Humane Educational Society is helping keep community cats warm by offering free DIY winter shelters. The supplies are available outside HES’s front doors — just grab one to set out, or make your own using a styrofoam cooler and straw. (Local 3 News)

Eat

Got any dinner plans? Attack of the Tatsu will take over Unknown Caller tonight starting at 5 p.m. This collab will include Japanese whisky flights, a curated cocktail menu, miso ramen, katsu sliders, and more. Pro tip: Get there early before they sell out.

Jobs

The Chattanooga Lookouts are hiring for their first season at Erlanger Park. Positions include food and beverage, retail, video production, and more. Swing by the team’s job fair at the South Chattanooga Community Center on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or apply online.

Theater

To audition or not to audition — that is the question. Okay, wrong Shakespeare play, but the Chattanooga Theatre Centre is holding auditions for “Much Ado About Nothing” on Monday, Feb. 2 and Tuesday, Feb. 3. You can choose one of these Shakespearean monologues to perform and sign up online.
