Free ways to round out spring break

We’re nearing the end of spring break for Hamilton County Schools students, and parents + guardians may be nearing the end of their spring break budgets, too.

We’re here to help with activities that won’t cost you a dime.

Main Terrain Art Park | Imagine a mashup of an art gallery, playground, and outdoor gym — that’s what you’ll find at this Southside green space. Sculptures double as fitness equipment, blending creativity and movement in a way that’s fun for the whole family.

Chattanooga Library | The Chattanooga Library offers tons of free events for kids, including STEAM classes, storytimes, and special programs like the upcoming Spring Break events at the downtown library.

Art Scavenger Hunt | Grab a map from the Chattanooga Information Center and set off on a self-guided adventure to discover 100+ murals and installations within a mile of downtown.

Bonus: Supplement this with our guide to lunches for $10 or less.

Enjoy Ross’s Landing while you can this spring + summer. Starting in November — immediately after Head of the Hooch — the area will be closed for 18 months as part of the ONE Riverfront development. Attend an upcoming community info session on Wednesday, March 25 or Thursday, March 26. (Local 3 News)

Coming Soon

A new downtown gym and fitness club is eyeing an April 1 opening. Fitness Central is set to open in a 37,000-sqft space near the zoo — a change from its original location plans — with Arsenal Strength equipment, free weights, and cardio machines. The gym plans to continue adding amenities such as locker rooms + a pilates studio after opening.

Sports

Chattanooga FC Women released its 2026 schedule, kicking off the season with a game against 865 Alliance on Thursday, May 28. This year marks new Head Coach Majo Harispuru’s first season with the team. View the full schedule.

Eat

Five Wits is bringing back the pizza oven. Starting in April, you’ll be able to grab a slice of ‘za for lunch and dinner seven days a week at the Five Wits space inside Barrelhouse Ballroom. The business will also be reopening its doors on Main Street. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)

Seasonal

Crabtree Farms’ annual spring plant sale approaches. This year, the three-day sale will take place April 17-19 with a large selection of plants for purchase + local vendors, food trucks, live music, and kids activities.

Cause

Chattanooga Room in the Inn (CRITI) recently launched a new pilot program that works to provide shelter and resources for teenagers experiencing homelessness in Hamilton County. CRITI will partner with Hamilton County Schools to identify eligible students + collaborate on the program.

Plan Ahead

Rhyme N Chatt Day is coming up on Saturday, April 11, after the City of Chattanooga officially proclaimed the second Saturday of April “Rhyme N Chatt Day” in 2025. This year, locals can celebrate at Audubon Acres with a poetry workshop + free community poetry in the park.
When dinner turns into a staring contest with your fridge, Forkful meals save the night. They’re fully prepared and ready in minutes — with zero seed oils and high-quality proteins. Use code CMD50 to take 50% off your first order.*

Tech

If your computer overheats with a few tabs open or sounds ready for liftoff, the problem might not be your device — it’s likely your antivirus. Many big-name brands are bulky + full of pop-ups. Webroot’s antivirus protection uses 33 times less space and scans up to six times faster. Get protected.*

The Buy

The best Easter eggs and decorations on sale ahead of the holiday. We recently shopped online party supply store Oriental Trading, and it’s got Easter covered — especially if you’re hosting an event on a budget. Check out our faves + use code BCFREESHIP for free shipping on any order:

The Wrap

It’s my last day in the saddle, but you’ll get to see my coworker Rilee take over this newsletter the next couple of days before Sarah officially returns. Thanks for letting me take over for a while; as a “thank you,” I’ll leave you with this old NOOGAtoday memento that serves as an embarrassing reminder of the internet’s permanence.
