    News Notes

    Outdoors

The goal: make the Tennessee River more accessible. The method: a 600-ft floating dock at Coolidge Park. That’s the length of two football fields. City leaders shared details about the $3.3 million project at a public meeting this week. Here’s what the dock could look like. (News Channel 9)

    Read

There’s a new spot to find your next great read in the Southside. Pennington’s Books recently soft-opened at 400 E. Main St. and is planning a grand opening on Saturday, April 11. Want a sneak peek? Stop by Thursday through Monday from 12 to 6 p.m.

    Show

We’re predicting lots of laughs inside the McKenzie Arena on Saturday, Oct. 24. That’s because fellow Tennessean and beloved standup comedian Leanne Morgan is performing a show there as part of her “The Time of Our Lives Tour,” and tickets go on sale today at 10 a.m.

    Arts

The city is looking for local artists to design a community-inspired mural for the Westside’s James A. Henry Hub. Applications are open now through Sunday, May 3, with installation planned for fall. Interested? Apply online. (Local 3 News)

    Closed

No North Chick Blue Hole this summer. The blue hole at North Chickamauga Creek Gorge State Park is now closed for roughly a year due to construction. The good news? You can still access other parts of the park during the blue hole’s closure. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)

    Traffic

Remember this sinkhole? It shut down Heritage Landing Drive in North Chattanooga last August, but now the road has officially reopened to traffic. (Chattanooga Times Free Press + News Channel 9)

    The Wrap

Ever seen this brown mule pulling a carriage downtown? That’s G.E.M. — and she’s not just any mule.

She once served in Afghanistan carrying supplies for US troops (G.E.M. stands for Government Enlisted Mule), and she’ll be honored with a commemorative brick outside the Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center tomorrow at 11 a.m.

Prescription-only GLP-1 treatment requires evaluation by a licensed U.S. provider. Treatment is provided only if medically appropriate; not all patients qualify. Results vary. Compounded medications, if prescribed, are prepared by licensed U.S. pharmacies and are not FDA-approved as finished products. See program terms for details.
