Cancel your dinner plans — it’s Chattanooga Burger Week. Dozens of local spots are serving up $8 specialty burgers now through Sunday, April 12. Personally, I’ve got my eyes on the green chili smash burger from Five Wits Brewing Co. and the jalapeno popper burger from The Tap House.

Download the free app to see which restaurants are participating, check out their burger of choice, and create your own route. Don’t forget to check in at each location to earn points (and a possible prize) and vote for your favorite burger.

Fun Fact

Do you know about the fourth floor of the downtown Chattanooga Public Library? It doesn’t have books, but it’s worth checking out. The Makerspace has 3D printers, sewing machines, a photography studio, and more — all for public use. Library card holders can even check out tools + camping equipment for free. (The Pulse)

Cause

April is National Volunteer Month, a celebration of those who give back to their communities. In Chattanooga, it’s the perfect time to start volunteering (or take your service to the next level) with 50+ opportunities to get involved across town.

Asked

Where do you want to see a Little Free Library in Chattanooga? This Reddit post in r/ShowerThoughts considers that one of the best locations may be in an airport, and personally, we’d love to see one outside of Sleepyhead Coffee. Share your suggestions.

Try This

If “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” hitting theaters last week stirs up gaming nostalgia, head to a local arcade. Chattanooga Pinball Museum powers up the experience with unlimited pinball and classic arcade games for one admission price — no cheat codes necessary.

Jobs

“The process is super easy and far more cost-effective than using a recruiter.” That’s what one business owner said about hiring through our Job Board. See for yourself — post your open positions for free.

Answered

What is Tennessee’s official state bird that’s commonly seen around Chattanooga?

Northern mockingbird perched on a rusted metal fence post. The bird's gray feathers blend softly with the blurred, muted background, creating a serene mood.

Fun fact: Some Northern Mockingbirds can sing up to 200 songs.

Photo by Rhododendrites via Wikimedia Commons

The correct answer is the Northern Mockingbird, and more than half (56%) of readers got it right. But don’t feel bad if you chose one of the other answers, because Eastern Bluebirds, American Robins, and Northern Cardinals are also commonly spotted around the Scenic City.

The Wrap

Did you notice the “Whose Live Anyway?” event in today’s Events section? As of Friday afternoon, there were only about a dozen tickets left to the show, but I think you should try to snag one. You won’t be able to get two seats together, so you’ll have to fly solo, but it’s a good opportunity to make new friends and laugh with your fellow Chattanoogans. See you there.
