15 local businesses will receive $225,000 in grants from TVFCU

Locally-owned businesses across Northwest Georgia and Southeast Tennessee could win up to $30,000 during National Small Business Week in May 2025.

Think your small business is pitch-perfect?

Applications for Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union’s 8th Annual Idea Leap Grant Pitch Competition open Friday, Oct. 4 — and $225,000 in grants are available for 15 local businesses in Northwest Georgia and Southwest Tennessee.

Here’s a look at the important dates + competition details, which takes place during National Small Business Week (May 4-10, 2025):

  • Small businesses must operate within TVFCU’s 17-county service area.
  • Applications are open until Monday, Nov. 4 at 5 p.m. ET.
  • Applicants who move on to the semifinal round will be announced on Feb. 7.
  • There will be five winners from each region. First place will receive $30,000, second will receive $15,000, and three third-place winners will each receive $10,000.
  • The three regions for next year’s competition are Northwest GA, Ocoee, and Chattanooga.
