Celebrate summer with the Soddy-Daisy Community Library

School may be starting soon, but the folks at the Soddy-Daisy Community Library are celebrating summer with a fun event on Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Soddy Municipal Park.

Summer isn’t over yet, folks. The Soddy-Daisy Community Library (SDCL) will host its 2023 Summer Celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Soddy Municipal Park.

This community event is free and open to everyone (regardless of residency). It serves as the culmination of SDCL’s Mythical Summer of Reading Program + will celebrate literacy and area nonprofits.

Expect free games, craft stations, a scavenger hunt, food trucks, and several vendors. Check out the full schedule below.

  • 10 a.m. + 2 p.m. | Ukelear Fusion (SDCL’s in-house ukulele performance group)
  • 11 a.m. + 1 p.m. | “The Baby Dragon Manifesto” puppet show by Playful Evolving Monsters
  • 11:30 a.m. | Native American storytelling with Tammera Hicks
  • 12 p.m. | Capoeira demonstration by Move N Groove Kids Garvey Program
  • 1:30 p.m. | Belly dancing exhibition by Jillian’s Healing Arts Center

Bonus: Apply to be a vendor — registration is open now through 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11.
