City Editor Haley here, sharing a firsthand look at a space right outside the downtown area dedicated to music, family + outdoor admiration.
That’s right, I recently spent an evening in the foothills of Lookout Mountain enjoying Reflection Riding’s Campfire Concert Series. Grab your favorite blanket and chairs, because we’re taking you on a musical journey from folk and funk to soul.
What we tried:
We took to the pasture to enjoy an evening with local group Luke Simmons & the Lovestruck, and let’s just say lovestruck is right.
Tickets not only get you access to Reflection Riding’s grounds + a live show, but you also get drink tokens and complimentary s’mores. So of course, we had to try our hand at marshmallow roasting while we sipped drafts from Hutton & Smith Brewing Co.
And that was all before the music started.
What not to miss:
This is truly an evening for the little kiddos and their families, leashed pups included. You can bring a full spread picnic and games (think: baseballs, bubbles, soccer balls, etc.) + we recommend taking full advantage of the s’more supply table.
While the music doesn’t begin until sundown, you’ll want to get there early to secure a spot, sip on a brew or two while the band does a sound check, and take in the stunning views.
Pro tip: Don’t forget your bug spray; you can thank me later.
What we’re still talking about:
Reflection Riding’s campus offers one of the most scenic venues for an evening under the stars. From the soul + blues tunes making everyone dance to feeling completely unplugged and connected to nature, there’s no better way to listen to music with the community.
Fun fact: You get to see Sunset Rock from a different vantage point as it sits in the backdrop of where the band plays.
How you can experience this:
Tickets to this evening under the stars can be purchased online — or never miss a show with season passes.
Bonus: You can keep the fun going by adding camping passes — this is the only time folks are allowed to camp on Reflection Riding’s grounds.
