Remember EPB’s announcement of launching America’s first industry-led, commercially available quantum network back in November ? Get ready for an exciting update.
At a recent meeting of the Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C), Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly announced the launch of the “Gig City Goes Quantum” initiative. The initiative will leverage the EPB Quantum Network powered by Qubitekk to “prepare for education, jobs, and business opportunities in the emerging quantum technology sector.”
To prepare Chattanooga (and the country, respectively) for the quantum age, this initiative will be a collaboration with community leaders, universities, and schools. The first efforts will begin on Friday, April 14 — which happens to be World Quantum Day — with the goal of engaging Chattanoogans of all ages in over 1,000 quantum learning activities by Wednesday, May 31.
Collaborators of the initiative will host a variety of “Quantum Learning Events” that will include livestreamed demonstrations led by quantum experts that will later be archived on the website for folks to access at any time.
Educational resources will be offered to students at Hamilton County Schools, ChattState, and UTC (as well as the public once the website goes live). Educators are also invited to register for a free Quantum Education Kit with links to videos + resources to utilize in classrooms.
