Table of Contents

Editor’s note: We created this list to help the public support Chattanooga’s local businesses as coronavirus slows foot traffic. We will update as possible. Please continue adding to the lists on our social channels — Instagram, Twitter + Facebook.

As of March 18, Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger recommended that all restaurants + bars close, so make sure you call first if it’s noted that a location is still open.

On March 19, Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke mandated all restaurants close dine-in services.

On March 22, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee mandated all restaurants move to takeout models for food and alcohol. The order allows establishments to sell alcohol by take-out or delivery with the purchase of food + in closed containers for those over 21.

On March 30, Gov. Lee issued a statewide safer-at-home order to help curb the state’s rapid spread of the virus. The order mandates that all non-essential businesses close and Lee urged that all residents remain home as much as possible for the next two weeks.

ProTip: The situation is changing daily, so we suggest giving these businesses a call if you have questions or need the latest update.

Reader suggestions

“I think buying gift-certificates are a great way to go! But not every service has that option... If you have a weekly or monthly service you pay for, such as nail/massage appointments, house cleaning, babysitting, private fitness class, etc, and you are financially able to do so... pay for that service even if you have to cancel (or if the company allows, start paying-ahead for your next appointment after this passes).” – Reader, C. McCoy

“This is very cool of you guys.❤️ We do gift certificates but in a very old school fashion. We’re still rolling with logo mug production, but orders are getting canceled due to canceled events and such. Any Chattanooga business that wants to give logo mugs a try can give their customers another way to support them. It could be a good offering for folks in the food service industry; mugs can get the Lysol wipe down that food doesn’t allow for.😏” – @formanpottery
