A new restaurant concept is coming to town with a novel twist on the dining out experience. Drake’s is bringing both burgers and sushi, as well as a vibe that’s family-friendly at times with a club-like atmosphere at others. It’s slated to open in January at 7338 McCutcheon Road, off Shallowford Road in the Hamilton Place area. The restaurant is part of Bluegrass Hospitality Group, which based in Lexington, Kentucky. Entrepreneurs Bruce Drake and Brian McCarty founded the restaurant. Currently, all of the eateries are company-owned, but there are franchise options. “Drake’s is a unique concept known as a ‘restaurant that loves beer and a bar that loves food,’” spokeswoman with Bluegrass Hospitality Group Leela Foley said via email. “Drake’s will offer both a relaxed atmosphere for a family lunch or dinner and a high-energy club with a DJ and dancing on the weekends.” The menu includes traditional American-style pub food, such as hand-pressed burgers, mini sandwiches, Sriracha wings and build-your-own tacos. And then there’s the sushi. “What sets Drake’s apart is its extensive sushi menu,” Foley said. “Drake’s Aqua Sushi chefs offer sushi lovers rare flavors and perfectly-executed classics, all rolled-to-order.” Most menu items cost less than $12, she also said. Hiring hasn’t started yet, but the company plans to employ about 130 people. “Our team is excited about the growth in Chattanooga and find great synergy between its vibrant community and the Drake’s brand,” Foley said. “With locations in Knoxville, Franklin and Bristol, we look forward to expanding the Drake’s Tennessee family.”
