Downtown Chattanooga’s I-24 to Broad Street ramp opening has been delayed. The project is still set to be completed by Aug. 31, 2023, and the ramp is tentatively set to open in late October. 🚧 (Chattanooga Times Free Press)

A proposed $400 million mixed-use riverfront development, River’s Edge at South Chick, could hold 900+ units and ~70,000 sqft of commercial space. The development is set to go on a 70-acre former industrial tract at Amnicola Highway + Judd Road. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)

This is the last week to take part in the City of Chattanooga’s Parks and Outdoors Plan survey. This survey is part of a plan that will offer a road map and to reinvent Chattanooga as a city in a park — complete it in ~14 minutes here.

Outdoor Chattanooga recently announced that it will host its Fireside Outdoor Concert Series again this October. The free, outdoor music series will take place on various dates at Greenway Farm park in Hixson. View the lineup here. 🎶

Community
This Thurs., Sept. 29, a local one-stop-shop reentry fair will take place from 1-4 p.m. at the Hamilton County Courthouse. The event will provide access to resources for employment, housing, healthcare, child support, and legal aid.
Local organization Soft Animal is once again hosting ASL classes. Classes are taught by a Deaf person and include information on numbers, letters, basic signs, Deaf history + culture, or more advanced vocabulary and application — depending on your skill level. Sign up for ASL 101 and ASL 102.
Festival
East Ridge officials announced that the city will host its first-ever Fall Festival on Sat., Oct. 22. The festival will take place at Camp Jordan with live music, arts and craft vendors, food trucks, kids activities, yard games, and more. Parking + admission will be free. 🍁
Cause
Signal Centers Assistive Technology recently received a $100,000 grant from the West End Home Foundation. The funds will go toward helping bridge the digital divide for those ages 60+ living in Hamilton County and the 10 surrounding counties. (Chattanoogan.com)

Bacon lovers and whiskey drinkers will unite at the annual Bacon & Barrel Festival on Thursday, Sept. 21. Over 15 local restaurants will team up with distilleries that focus on barrel-aged spirits from around the world “to savor an evening of Southern indulgence.”
The event will take place at the First Horizon Pavilion from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Proceeds from the festival will benefit the Chattanooga Market — so every sip counts. Here’s what to expect.
Festival details
This is a 21+ event, you must have a valid ID for entry.
No pups allowed (aside from service animals).
Your ticket includes unlimited samples of bacon-themed dishes + 15 whiskey samples.
Attendees will be able to enjoy live music + photo ops.
Note: Beer, wine, and full-sized cocktails will be available for purchase.
Additionally, attendees will help determine the winner of this year’s Golden Hog Award. Vote for your favorite bacon-themed dish on-site.
