You may be familiar with the events section of our newsletter — but what about our website?

Make the most of our comprehensive events calendar with these pro tips for navigating our site like a true local.

Event search tools

Find these below the “Featured Events” section near the top.
  • Magnifying glass icon | Search keywords to find event categories or search events by name.
  • “All Events” drop-down (desktop) | Search for virtual events or “Editor Picks.”
  • Descending list icon (desktop) | Search by time, popularity, or alphabetically.
  • Bullet list icon | Change the format from lists to thumbnails.
  • Additional tools | Date, location, radius.

Green calendar icon | Click or tap this button, create a login, and input your event information.
  • We need the event name, date(s), time(s), location, price, and a brief description.
  • The event will then display on the website after review (note that event inclusion is based on overall relevance, frequency, diversity, cost, timeliness, etc.).
  • Pro tip: If your event takes place over multiple dates, you do not need to create multiple listings — just note the correct dates in the singular listing.

  • In case you missed it, Hamilton County Schools’ annual State of the System event will take place this Thursday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. in the newly acquired Cigna Building (7555 Goodwin Rd.). For those interested who can’t make it, the event will also be livestreamed on Youtube.
Closing
  • Sportsbarn’s downtown location is set to officially close on Tuesday, Feb. 28. A local development group announced it was purchasing the building back in December. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
Traffic
  • Starting next Monday, Feb. 13, construction crews will close the intersection at McBrien Road, south of Ringgold Road, to install new stormwater drainage pipes. Construction is anticipated to finish within ~42 days. Detours will be posted. đźš§ (Chattanoogan.com)

  • Today, Feb. 7, Big Bad Breakfast opens its new location at the Lodge Cast Iron Foundry & Museum in South Pittsburg. The spot is Big Bad Breakfast’s 5th Tennessee location (with another coming soon to NorthShore). (Chattanoogan.com)

  • On Friday, March 3, Be the Change Youth Initiative will host the Empower YOUth Art Auction to celebrate Red Bank art students + raise money for public school art classrooms and summer scholarships. The event will feature food, drinks, music, art, and more. 🎨

  • The annual River Gorge race is coming up on Saturday, March 18. The local race — you can choose between a 10.2 or 6.5-mile course — runs the Mullens Cove and Pot Point Loops in the Prentice-Cooper Wildlife Management Area. Sign up online.
Learn
  • On Saturday, Feb. 18, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will present a 45-minute ranger-led program exploring the events of Cherokee Removal and the arrival of railroads in Southeastern Tennessee and Northwestern Georgia. The event will take place at 2 p.m. at 10 Hamm Rd.
