In the spirit of supporting all things local, we’ve rounded up 12farmers markets in the Chattanooga area where you’ll find fresh food, live music, andlocal vendors.
Chattanooga Market | Sundays, end of April through mid-November (For opening weekend, the market is also open on Saturday, April 29) | 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Features: Farm produce, artisan foods, fresh flowers, arts and crafts vendors, live music, and food trucks.
Parking: Park in lots surrounding the First Horizon Pavilion and Finley Stadium for $1 per hour — limited street parking is available.

Tennessee State Representative Yusuf Hakeen has secured funding for Chattanooga’s Bessie Smith Cultural Center. The center will receive $250,000 from the state to continue to preserve + celebrate African American history and culture. (WDEF)

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) will gift 64 schools with School Uplift grants. TVA will spend a total of $2.6 million to assist with building energy upgrades and improving learning environments. The winning schools + grant amounts will be announced on Monday, May 1. Watch live.

The ArtCaraVan is coming back, Nooga. Starting Thursday, May 11, art cars from around the country will caravan around to Hamilton County schools. Bonus: The art cars will also make an appearance on Saturday, May 13 at the We Make Fest at Miller Park. (Chattanoogan.com)

The Chattanooga Fire Department will be out in the community from now through Saturday, April 29 for the Fill the Boot campaign. This fundraiser is in support of the Muscular Dystrophy Association to help raise funds for treatments and therapies. (NewsChannel 9)

The Chattery will host an Orangeously Great Party for local author Darin Wright’s new book “Find Your Strength: A Love Letter to Orange” on Saturday, June 24. The event will feature a fashion show, local performances, a dance party, and more.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services stopped in Chattanooga to sign the Forever Homes Act into law.
