Ruby Falls and Tennessee Whiskey Trail to host Bootleg Bash
Learn about the role Tennessee caves played in the whiskey industry at this event. | Photo provided by Ruby Falls
Calling all whiskey lovers. Get ready to mark your calendars for the inaugural Bootleg Bash on Saturday, Sept. 9.
The folks at Ruby Falls are teaming up with Tennessee Whiskey Trail to host a whiskey tasting event featuring samples from over 20 Tennessee distilleries.
Not only will attendees be able to try out some of the state’s finest whiskey offerings, but they’ll also be able to learn about the significance of Tennessee caves in the whiskey industry.
Caves played a major role in this industry since the Prohibition Era when the ban on alcohol in Tennessee drove whiskey makers + moonshiners to find covert locations to continue operations. Caves across Tennessee served as “hidden grottos offering seclusion, water sources, and excellent shelter.”
Try out whiskey from 20 local and regional distilleries.

I’ve been loving reading our readers’ + Instagram followers’ responses to which local spot they would be willing to change their names to in exchange for a lifetime supply of free food. For example, “Y’all can just call me @mainstreetmeats if I can get that hot potato salad EVERY. SINGLE. DAY!” — @shannon.stewart2
