Ready to enjoy live music by the Tennessee River and under the stars once again? Riverfront Nights, a free outdoor concert series at Ross’s Landing, will kick off on Saturday, May 25 + will run through Saturday, Aug. 31 — an expanded run compared to years past.

The outdoor concert series recently released this year’s lineup, so get ready to make your plans for those upcoming summer Saturday nights, rain or shine.

Need-to-knows

  • Concession + drink sales begin at 6 p.m.
  • Attendees can bring coolers and snacks, but no outside alcohol is permitted
  • Live music begins at 7 p.m. + will end by 10 p.m. (unless it’s an extended performance)
  • On the extended dates (May 25, Aug. 17 + Aug. 31), Riverfront Parkway will be shut down by Ross’s Landing to utilize both lawns
  • Bring your own blankets or lawn chairs
  • Attendees can enjoy cornhole + other giant games
  • Leashed pets are welcome + a doggy pool will be onsite for your furry friends

    Development
    • Hamilton County Commissioners recently approved a $500,000 contract increase involving McDonald Farm. The new contract will allow for engineering services to implement an “industry level” water-line extension on the site. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
    Environment
    • The prescribed burn for Maclellan Island is scheduled to take place tomorrow, March 12 beginning at 8 a.m. and lasting into the mid afternoon. During the burn, traffic on Veterans Bridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Note: The burn may be canceled if weather conditions change.

    • Taco Mamacita’s second Chattanooga location at 2031 Hamilton Pl. Blvd. will open its doors to the public today, March 11. Swing by from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. to try out items from a new menu, along with other Tex-Mex favorites.
    Traffic
    • Time to pump the brakes. The speed limit has been reduced at Walker Road (between Lee Highway and Standifer Gap Road) to 30 mph + at Gray Road (between Jenkins Road and Igou Gap Road) to 25 mph. Both speed limits are in effect immediately. (Chattanoogan.com)
    Outdoors
    • Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center has opened early access to its Native Plant Nursery for current members. The nursery will open to the public on Saturday, March 16 + will operate Thursdays-Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    • Foundation House Ministries will host its annual Spring Banquet on Tuesday, March 19 at Westwood Baptist Church in nearby Cleveland. From 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., attendees will hear from CEO and Founder Suzanne Burns and graduates from the program that helps support mothers and pregnant people in crisis.

    • Registration is now open for the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga’s Miracle League. The league is designed to connect those living with disabilities to the game of baseball + is open to ages four and up. Note: Buddies will be provided for the players.
