Independence Day is right around the corner, and to help with making plans, we’ve rounded up some local celebrations + fireworks shows for you and your loved ones to enjoy this Fourth of July.
This beloved celebration will kick off on Wednesday, July 3 at 4:30 p.m. with a free outdoor concert by Love, Peace & Happiness, a performance by the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera, and a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Bonus: Food + drinks will be available to purchase on-site.
The City of Collegedale will celebrate Independence Day on Wednesday, July 3 beginning at 4 p.m. Expect live music, a variety of food vendors, and free activities for the kiddos to enjoy — the fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m.
Come out to the Fourth of July Parade on Thursday, July 4 beginning at 9 a.m. Following the parade, folks can enjoy festivities in Harris Park and the day will end with a fireworks show at dusk.
Gather in Coolidge Park for the return of Pops on the River.
Enjoy an all-day celebration on Saturday, July 6 beginning at 9 a.m. Come out for food trucks, games for the kids, a petting zoo, a car show, vendors, live music, and a fireworks show when the sun sets. Entry is free.
Head to this mountaintop resort on Saturday, July 6 beginning at 6 p.m. for live music, an inflatable sports challenge and bounce house, a dunk tank, and food + drink. The fireworks show will begin at 9:30 p.m. Tickets start at $20.

FEMA has issued a disaster declaration for Hamilton County in relation to the May storms. Public assistance funding will be available on a “cost-sharing basis for emergency work and repair/replacement of facilities damaged.” Note: FEMA is reviewing individual assistance. (Chattanoogan.com)

The Chattanooga Design Studio is hosting a discussion on the urban design and planning process of the Civic Center District on Monday, June 24. From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., attendees can head to the Waterhouse Pavilion to learn about + provide feedback on plans for the area. RSVP online.

The City of East Ridge will soon be home to the first Tennessee location of a Cigars International Superstore. The 6,500-sqft spot will be located at 495 Camp Jordan Pkwy. + feature a cigar shop, bar, and lounge with over 1,300 cigar brands.

Nominations are open for the Southeast Tennessee Chapter of AFP’s National Philanthropy Day awards. The categories highlight “individuals and groups who, through their hard work and dedication, have enhanced philanthropy, their communities, and the world.” Send in your nominees by Friday, July 12.

McClendon Curtis of the Seattle Seahawks will soon host his Big Curt Camp in nearby Harrison at Central High School. On Saturday, July 13, kiddos ages 7-17 will participate in a three-hour football training, meet the professional athlete + end the day with food.

The folks behind the beloved Nightfall concert series are bringing a new evening of shows for music lovers to enjoy.
Enter: The Nightfall Jazz Cafe, a limited series of Thursday evening jazz shows at The Granfalloon.
The shows will feature Lisa Anita Baker’s band opening each week, with a special headlining artist. The series will open on Thursday, June 27 with contemporary jazz singer + keyboardist Allen Cook.
Tickets to the shows are $25 + can be purchased online or at the door. The Granfalloon will also offer a full bar and tapas menu. Note: Doors will open at 6:45 p.m., with the show beginning at 7:30 p.m. There will be two sets with a brief intermission.
