6 reasons why workouts are better with a buddy
Grab your BFF (best fitness friend) and let’s get a workout in. Whether you’re exercising outdoors or hitting one of Nooga’s local gyms or yoga studios, workouts are always better with a buddy.
Don’t have a workout buddy already? Joining a local gym or fitness studio is a great way to find one.
Check out six reasons why having a health buddy is beneficial.
A source of motivation
A little bit of encouragement can go a long way. Having a workout partner is a great way to get motivated and stay on track to accomplish your health goals.
A built-in accountability buddy
Sometimes the hardest part of the workout is getting there. Your workout partner can hold you accountable to make sure you keep consistent. (Do you really want to text and cancel?)
A way to switch up your workout
Diversifying your workout is easier when you’re with a friend. Here’s one idea: Take turns choosing your weekly workout to try new things (think: tennis, pickleball, yoga, and more).
Adds in friendly competition
Working out with a friend can fuel healthy competition, which can be encouraging for meeting new goals. Seeing your buddy reach new milestones can encourage you to do the same.
Enhanced safety
Whether you’re exercising indoors or outdoors, accidents can happen. It’s good to have someone there as a spotter when lifting heavy weights or while you’re out on a run.
It makes working out fun
Time flies when you’re having fun, and that also applies to exercise. Take a walk with a friend, and you’ll be surprised how fast time (and miles) go by.
You don’t have to be on your health journey alone. Grab a friend, build a workout schedule, and have fun while staying healthy.
